Liechtenstein is officially called the Principality of Liechtenstein. It is a doubly landlocked country, and has the world’s highest GDP per capita by PPP. The region was historically under the control of the Roman Empire, and gained independence in 1806. Liechtenstein is a unitary parliamentary constitutional principality, headed by a prince.
It has an area of 160 sq km, a population of 36,000, and a very high HDI of 0.883.
