Indonesia (officially the Republic of Indonesia) is comprised of 18,108 islands. Most Indonesians are Muslim, although Islam is not the official religion. It is the fourth most populated country in the world, with a population of 237 million, and has a medium HDI of 0.617.

Historically, Indonesia was a Dutch colony for three and a half centuries, and obtained its independence in 1949.
